At a closed-door Democratic Cauacus meeting on Tuesday, Senate Democrats voted to allow Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) to stay in the Democratic caucus and retain his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Lieberman created tension with Democrats by supporting and campaigning for John McCain during the elections. At the meeting, Democrats did vote to strip Lieberman of his chairmanship of a minor environmental subcommittee.
